Privalia eCommerce Front End Platform
Privalia
Background
When I joined Privalia, they were having a hard time maintaining their product. There were 4 different front-end platforms (very similar between them) for 4 different countries. Bugs and problems were popping up every day due to outdated components and the duplicated code bases.
Role
Worked on a 6-8 member Front-End Agile (SCRUM) team, I was assigned to the team that would create an integrated front-end. Improved a lot my JavaScript skills, and helped to develop an Object Oriented, AJAX driven framework. The integration of Web Analytics and Social Sharing modules came later, but the most interesting part was to work hand in hand with Business, Designers and UX specialists.
Results
Even with the delays of the project, I think this was one of the more successful projects I have been a part of. Giving birth to an integrated multilanguage platform for 4 different countries and serving more than 4 million users at that time is something I was lucky to experience. I also feel proud of doubling the conversion rate of the last steps of the checkout process through multiple redesigns and A/B testing. Overall, we managed to decrease maintenance and bandwidth costs, as well as time to market for new features.
Testimonial
Marcos is a very methodic, open-minded and curious developer. I remember when he first joined our team, his javascript level was average. But he knew how to take advantage of working among other expert Front-End Developers to learn and improve his own skills to the next level. He learns fast! His ambition has no limits! I enjoyed working with him. He's a great teammate to work with!
